Time To Go

Standard Mike Brown FaceThis was the standard Mike Brown face during any of the Cleveland Cavaliers playoff runs during his 5 year run as had coach.  I first learned about the Cavs firing Mike Brown while reading ESPN.  The Cavs let go of Brown before they were on the hook for the $4.5 million that he was owed for the upcoming season.  I am not sure if anyone found the firing to be a surprise, but this was a year too late for the Cavs.  Brown has been a superior head coach as far as the regular season has been concerned, but it was the Cavs performance in the playoffs that led to Brown’s downfall.  During Brown’s tenure as head coach the Cavs have made the playoffs for all 5 seasons.  The Cavs lost in the NBA Finals in 2007, lost to the Celtics in 2008 in the 2nd round, the Magic in 2009 in the Eastern Conference Finals, and the Celtics in 2010 in the 2nd round.  For a team that has been considered one of the top teams in the NBA since 2008 the Cavaliers consistently underachieved in the playoff.  The one consistency for the Cavs in those years has been how throughly Mike Brown has been out coached by the opposition.  Brown was not able to make the necessary adjustments to be able to 1) Keep the Cavs competitive  and 2) Push them over the top.  So, Mike Brown you have been good regular season head coach, but obviously you needed a little more tutelage under coach Greg Popovich.  Mike Brown would be able to land a job as a defensive coach right away and who knows he might be recycled like so many other coaches.
